Next time I see her will be on the outside (which sounds like we’re in prison) (which is kind of how claustrophobic I feel) March 11, 2010

It wasn’t the big words I didn’t understand or even the three minutes we actually got to see the doctor that irked me.

It was his M&Ms tie.

We drove up to Green Bay to see this perinatal specialist dude last week and had a follow-up appointment Wednesday to check out something that thankfully “Mother Nature took care of on her own,” in his words. But here I was, tasting lunch again because I was so nervous (and because this baby is all up in my business and so digestion is a slow, heartburning process), and he was wearing the M&Ms tie. As in the chocolate candies that melt in your mouth, not in your hand. Really? Really?

I’m more of a Reese’s Pieces girl myself.

But I digress. The point is, a few weeks of worrying about something that went away on its own means we got two more ultrasounds than usual. It means a few more deep lines on my now old-lady-looking face. It means I know almost for certain that this baby has a Wasinger nose, and that she is all. Over. The. Place. The chick can’t hold still. She won’t look at the camera, she likes to shield her face with her hands and wiggle her way around so cute photos that resemble something human are nearly impossible. Plus she kept opening and closing her mouth like she was talking (or crying — “Baby CRY. WAHHH,” as Alice would remind us).

In other words, this might be our most high-maintenance baby yet.

And come on, Mr. Big is pretty high-maintenance.

Bring it, baby. I’m totally ready. Well, sort of. Give me a few weeks to settle on a name and pick up some D batteries for the bassinet light and the swing. And a bottle of red wine for mama’s homecoming. Then it’s totally on. You and me, baby.

YAY! I’m glad that everything turned out A-OK! Yipee! Now let’s get this kiddo out into the world! 🙂

PS.. He was wearing the M&M tie AGAIN?
